Journey To Change Conference

CLP is co-hosting the Journey To Change Conference this year along with Casey Family Programs and the Foster Youth Alliance. This year’s theme is Rising Above and Realizing Our Full Potential.

Workshop proposals are due January 21st. The conference will take place on Friday, April 27, 2012, and will bring together 150 youth, young adults and professionals to share promising practices and innovations, renew our shared commitment to meaningful youth engagement, and initiate unprecedented collaboration to support youth in their Journey to Change.

THP Plus Policy Brief

John Burton Foundation just released a THP Plus Policy Brief. This study analyzed the demographics and outcomes of more than 450 young adults who exited from the THP-Plus program during the first three quarters of fiscal year 2010-11 in order to identify potential implications for the implementation of extended foster care in California.

Talk of AB 12

The start of 2012 has brought with it a number of changes - including the implementation of AB 12 which extends foster care to the age of 21. Everyone is talking about the potential benefits of this new law. The Orange County Register follows the inspiring story of a young mother who now serves as a peer mentor at the Orangewood Center. Peace4Kids is hosting their 4th annual MLK Day of Service event, “Seeing Our Future.”
Saturday, January 14th 9:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Youth will explore career opportunities, meet mentors and learn more about higher ed from local college and university representatives.
